The Bouncing Baby Bookworm is becoming more of a toddler every single day. Just when we thought we had the baby stuff down, life throws us a curveball, or should I say, hurls a whiney, constantly in motion, demanding pre-toddler?
At storytime this week, for the first time Bumpy didn't sit in my lap. No, he wanted to crawl around the room and try to pull himself up on random toddlers sitting on the floor. One child in particular did not appreciate the violation of his personal space.
Then Bumpy was off to find whatever he could on the ground to stick in his mouth. I felt pretty awesome when I managed to grab a little scrap of construction paper off the floor that he was making a beeline to. Too bad I missed the SCREW under the table. I didn't even see him pick that up, I just saw him chewing on something and used the reliable hooked-finger-in-mouth technique to get it out. I was horrified to see it was a screw.
One grandmother saw me staring at it in horror and said very mildly "Their eyesight sure is amazing." So, when you become a grandma you don't get phased by this stuff anymore? I can't wait.
B also decided to go crawling over to the exposed plugs under another table as well. It's like he was looking around the room and deciding what would be dangerous and cool to check out. Sigh.
So what book was read? I don't know, I was took busy trying to keep an eye on the baby. I think it was something about bears who go to bed and give their mothers some peace. I'm not sure, but that sounds pretty darn good right now.
